MEASURING UhUb & HELPING THE CLIENT COMMUNITY
Working with JustOne to measure our own sustainability credentials and helping to spread the information individuals and businesses require to go Net Zero both in the working environment and in their personal lives by sharing Just One training with their clients, and non clients, who use UhUb.
OUR COMMITMENT & PROMISE
Our philosophy is that doing what we love shouldn't cost the earth, and we love doing UhUb. So why then would we be a negative impact on a world we love, a world that we will be leaving to the people we love.
We decided not to be!
As UhUb as is a Network structured business with a ‘work where you want’ approach, we felt this should not be difficult to do.
And guess what, it isn’t!
Also we want to encourage everyone we work with to consider the impact they have in all they do, whether holding a meeting, heating their homes, choosing a cleaning product, traveling abroad or dare we say, training their people.
Firstly, we had to lead by example so each year between 2019 to 2021 we were measured by Planet First for our Planet Mark Certification (the first App to do so), and each year any CO2 we used, plus a bit extra, was offset using the Carbon Footprint schemes. We are proud to have consistently held Planet Mark Certification 2019, 2020, 2021. Becoming Climate Positive in 2020, we committed to offsetting 10x Co2 we use each and every year.
This changed in 2022 when we moved to Just One for our measurements and Ecologi for our offsetting. To be clear this is not because Planet Mark were not good, they are excellent, very excellent, but for us Just One and Ecologi suited our small team structure a little more efficiently. Through Ecologi we can choose which projects to support and can demonstrate the effects of our offsetting arrangements, and in 2022 we upped offsetting to x26 the Co2 we use. Something we achieved for the first time in August 2022.
This means simply having UhUb in your supply chain is a positive for your own sustainability credentials.
Secondly, it is our promise, not to just be Low Carbon, or even Carbon Neutral or Net Zero, but to being Climate POSITIVE. Not only that but we decided to take the view that CO2 offsetting should be considered 'profit margin'. We now offset 26 x our yearly usage annually.
It is our commitment to help others get there too, whether through our promotion of Just One, Ecologi and Planet Mark or with training, product choice, sharing information, or promoting tools for good.
Tomorrow is soon today, and that is why we are taking action now. Will you join us?
UhUb is focused on helping those that have been dealt a bad hand by circumstance. To this end UhUb is extremely happy to support a fantastic organisation that assist the Homeless and Ex-Homeless back into work and onto a better path. Click the logo to find out more.
This is not just a random act of charity, this is personal.
Our MD, Stephen, spent some time in his teenage years homeless, and because of his experience and the understanding he has of the effect homelessness can have on a person, he is determined to help others escape, and recover from the experience by making philanthropy in this area part of the UhUb DNA.
Stephen says; 'At UhUb we consider social benefit, like our Sustainability results, to be a 'profit margin', perhaps not always measureable but one that all businesses should be determined to create. We find our Client Community feel much the same. I am looking forward to a long relationship with HoSB and our Community helping where we can in their efforts. Whilst the process of considering where we can help has meant revisiting a time in my life I had put behind me, which is often difficult and painful, its worth it to help even just a handful of individuals back on their feet'.

What started as a good idea has become a commitment to improve education delivery in the sector.

UhUb is a new way of doing things. Taking advantage of current technology in a new way to embrace peoples love of phones and maximise BYOD is the way forward, and UhUb is at the forefront.
WHY WE CREATED UhUb?
The UhUb team is small.
We like it that way.
It enables us to respond quickly to new needs, ideas, directions in technology, or the market. But make no mistake we are not only techies.
Far from it!
We love our concept and we love the way we are able to deliver it, but some of our team are individuals that have spent 17+ years in the Cleaning and Facilities industry, experienced in both Development and Operations. Or in other words have been where you are, and understand the issues and challenges you face.
At UhUb we have the experience of selling, mobilising, merging, rationalising and transferring everything from single cleaner contracts, through to multi country TFM service provisions, and over the years we have become aware that the ‘Win’ and the ‘GP’ is often being achieved at the cost of the cleaners work life quality.
One day we got together and realised that we all had the same main frustration.
Training and Development always promised, usually paid for, but rarely properly delivered to cleaning staff in a way that truly makes a difference to them, the business, and the service user.
We wanted to change that.
Not just as a box ticking exercise during the tender process or a promise across the table, but in a way that genuinely allows workers to feel and do better, in quality of delivery, a feeling of social connection, and by providing real demonstrable recorded training that can lead to actual career progression.
So UhUb was developed, and with more than 700,000 cleaning staff in UK alone, most of whom are low paid, and often remote or lone workers, many even new to the UK, there was, and still is, a lot to do. We believe as key workers they all deserve better and that ‘better’ can be provided whilst also benefiting the company and certainly the service users.
In short it is our vision to improve the opportunities for those who often have few. All whilst benefiting the industry as a whole through information flow via Knowledge Networks and in a way which further strengthens opportunities to workers both within our Client Community and as part of our Social Impact ethos.
We know it’s been difficult to achieve these things until now. After all, how do you train and include an individual who works late night or early mornings on their own?
No problem, everyone is in the same boat, but now there is a new way...UhUb.

WORKING WITH EHRC
UhUb is working with The Equality & Human Rights Commission to deliver information to cleaning staff on their rights to work within the UK and the Cleaning & FM sector.
ENDORSED BY CITY & GUILDS
The UhUb Cleaning Training content was fully endorsed by City & Guilds in 2019, with a rigorous line by line review of all lessons. C&G concluded that UhUb Cleaning Training is 'not only excellent basic training for all, but a foundation upon which further qualifications may be built'.
